"Heart Touching Stories"
Five Stories that will make you cry !!!
1. A kiss
Getting
late for a meeting, need to run’, he said, as he slung his coat over the
shoulder, and bounded out of the house. As he drove away, she came
running down the stairs two at a time. ‘Wait, wait’, she said, but he had
already left.
Her mouth crumpled like used
wrapping paper. ‘He forgot to give me a goodbye kiss’, she whispered in a voice
that trembled under the weight of her hurt. She called him, ‘you left without
giving me a kiss’, she said accusingly. ‘I am sorry sweetheart’, he said, his
voice contrite. ‘It is okay’, she said, trying to be all grown up as she cut
the call.
She gulped down her breakfast
morosely, wore her shoes, picked up her school bag and started to walk out of
the door, her shoulders slumped. As she climbed down the steps, the car glided
to a stop outside the house. He got out of the car. She ran to him, her whole
face lit up like a Christmas tree.
‘I am sorry I forgot’, he said, as
he picked her up and hugged her. She said nothing. Her jaw ached from smiling.
Fifteen years later, no one would
remember he was late for a meeting, but a little girl would never ever forget
that her father drove all the way back home just to kiss her goodbye!
2. A Glass of Milk
She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of
milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"
"You don't owe me anything," she replied. "Mother has
taught us never to accept pay for a kindness."
He said..... "Then I thank you from my heart." As Howard
Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in
God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.
Year's later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were
baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in
specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the
consultation. When he heard the nameof the town she came from, a strange light
filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to
her room.
Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized
her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to
save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the
business office to pass the final bill to him for approval.
He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was
sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the
rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught
her attention on the side of the bill.
She read these words.....
"Paid in full with one glass of milk"
(Signed)
Dr. Howard Kelly
Dr. Howard Kelly
Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank
You, God, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and
hands."
3. Without Your Love, I Would Die
One day a boy and a girl were
driving home after watching a movie. The boy sensed there was something wrong
because of the painful silence they shared between them that night.
The girl then asked the boy to pull
over because she wanted to talk. She told him that her feelings had changed and
that it was time to move on.
A silent tear slid down his cheek as
he slowly reached out to his pocket and passed her a folded note.
At that moment, a drunk driver was
speeding down that very same street. He severed right into the car killing the
boy.
Miraculously, the girl survived.
Remembering the note later, she unfolded it and read,
‘Without love I would die'.’
4. Lesson for everyone
A son took his old father to a
restaurant for an evening dinner. Father being very old and weak, while eating,
dropped food on his shirt and trousers. Others diners watched him in
disgust while his son was calm.
After he finished eating, his
son who was not at all embarrassed, quietly took him to the wash room,
wiped the food particles, removed the stains, combed his hair and fitted
his spectacles firmly. When they came out, the entire restaurant
was watching them in dead silence, not able to grasp how someone could
embarrass themselves publicly like that.
The son settled the bill and started
walking out with his father.
At that time, an old man
amongst the diners called out to the son and asked him, “Don’t you think you
have left something behind?”.
The son replied, “No sir, I
haven’t”.
The old man retorted, “Yes, you
have! You left a lesson for every son and father."
5. Because I Was Told I Can
by Jan Graham
A couple of weeks ago, I was
watching him do chin ups. He made them look effortless. I broke away from my
group and asked him if I could try a chin up. I had never tried before, but he
just made it look so easy. He eagerly stepped aside and encouraged me to step
up to the bar. I pulled myself up without thinking...once...then twice. That
was all I had in me, I had no strength left. I told him that was all I had, so
he stepped up behind me and pushed me up for a third and fourth
"pull." It felt so good. I felt strong and I smiled from ear to ear.
The next day when I was done my
workout, I asked him to spot me again. Again, I did two. Again on day three and
so on. I thought it was pathetic that I could only do two, but when I came to
the gym at the end of the week, he was standing there just shaking his head.
When I asked him what was up, he said he was impressed with my chin ups. He
told me that when they are training firefighters, the men are required to do 5
chin ups, and women are required to do 1 or 2. He explained that most people
can't do them at all, and that he was impressed that I could. He further told
me that if I practiced every day, I would be doing 5 or 6 in no time. At this
point I should probably add that I am 50 years old...and female.
The
moral of this story...because I didn't know any better, because he told me I
could, I saw no reason to doubt. I just jumped in and gave it a try - and I did
it! I didn't see it as a great accomplishment, because I didn't realize that it
was difficult and it became my goal to get stronger. No one told me I couldn't
do it, in fact, I was encouraged to try. Had he told me initially how difficult
it was, I more than likely would not have tried at all. Or I might have tried,
but given it only half an effort, because failure would have been the
expectation. I applaud him for letting me believe that for me, it was not only
a possibility, but that success was a realistic expectation.
